My World Therapy

Welcome to My World Therapy

We are a specialist, independent practice dedicated to providing highly personalised, child-centred occupational therapy. Our close-knit team supports neurodivergent children, including those who are autistic or have diagnoses such as ADHD, DCD/Dyspraxia, and Developmental Delay.

We also work with children awaiting diagnostic assessments and as part of multi-disciplinary diagnostic teams, supporting you and your child on your journey.

Our Expertise

Our highly experienced therapists have extensive postgraduate training, including in Sensory Integration. We are specialists in:

  • High-Quality EHCP ReportsCrafting detailed, evidence-based reports to secure the right support.
  • Follow-Up Therapy & Reviews: Providing ongoing, tailored therapy sessions to help your child thrive.
  • Parent Coaching: Empowering you with strategies and understanding to support your child at home.

We are proud to be commissioned not only by families but also by Local Authorities, NHS services, and schools, reflecting the quality and impact of our work.

Navigating the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Process

An EHCP is a legal document that outlines the specific educational, health, and social care support a child needs. A comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment is a crucial part of this process, ensuring your child’s sensory and physical needs are fully recognised and addressed in their plan.

Our EHCP reports are different. We are experts in the legal framework of the SEN Code of Practice. This means:

  • We recommend what your child needs, not what is simply available.

  • Our reports provide the robust evidence required to secure the right educational environment for your child.
  • We have a strong track record of helping families ensure the right support is put in place, and our reports are highly successful at SEN tribunals.

Our Specialisms

Understanding Sensory Needs

Sensory processing differences are common in neurodivergent children and can profoundly influence how they experience the world. This can affect everything from learning and play to daily routines.

Our assessments will give everyone a clear understanding of your child’s unique sensory profile, including:

  • Sensitivities: Such as heightened sensitivity to sounds, lights, or textures.
  • Strengths: Such as an exceptional attention to detail.

We provide clear strategies and recommend reasonable adjustments to ensure your child feels comfortable, included, and ready to learn.

Assessing Motor Skills

Motor skill differences (such as DCD/Dyspraxia and Joint Hypermobility) are very common in neurodivergent children but are often under-recognised. These can impact participation in activities like:

  • PE and playground games
  • Handwriting or typing
  • Dressing and using cutlery

Identifying these differences is a positive and vital step. Our thorough assessments, which include standardised motor skills testing, provide the information needed to understand your child’s needs and can support a consultant paediatrician in considering a diagnosis of DCD/Dyspraxia.

Our Holistic and Collaborative Approach

We believe in looking at the whole child. Our approach is always:

  • Holistic: We consider all of a child’s meaningful activities—at home, at school, and in the community.
  • Partnership-Based: We respect you, the parent, as the expert on your child and work in close partnership with you.
  • Multi-Disciplinary: We collaborate closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Paediatricians, Psychologists, and other professionals to ensure joined-up care.
  • Evidence-Based & Individualised: Drawing on the latest research from bodies like the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, we design support that is tailored to your child’s unique strengths, needs, and lived experiences. Our service is not “one size fits all”.

ANNA HAMLET
ANNA HAMLETClinical Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist (BSc Occupational Therapy, MSc Autism, PG Cert Sensory Integration)
Anna qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2001 at the University of Southampton, and subsequently spent a year working voluntarily in orphanages in Romania before joining the NHS. She has held specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapy posts in London, working for the Royal Free Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team, and following this, a Clinical Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapy post for South West Essex PCT.

Anna is certified by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, as well as the Sensory Integration Network. She has an MSc in Autism and a PG Cert in Sensory Integration.

She has mainly worked with children aged 0-18 years, with a wide range of strengths and needs. Her specialism is supporting Autistic children and children with diagnosis of ADHD, Developmental Delay and Developmental Coordination Disorder/Dyspraxia.

Anna founded ‘My World Therapy’ in 2017 in order to provide individualised, timely, highly specialist, and up to date independent Occupational Therapy assessments and therapy for children with sensory and/or motor skills differences. Through thorough assessment, she can build a profile of each child’s strengths and needs. In addition, Anna recognises the importance of trying to understand what the world feels like to the child and also what motivates them (which is where the “My World” therapy name comes from). This enables an individualised therapy plan to be formulated. As a Mum of two children, Anna understands the importance of therapy being fun and of working closely with parents to understand their priorities for their child.

In addition to providing highly specialist individual therapy, Anna has had extensive experience of delivering training to parents, education staff and health professionals. Anna has also provided independent supervision and consultation to therapy services within Local Authority and Independent special schools.
